Restoration of liturgical vestments
Liturgical vestments and embroidery hold an important place in the Orthodox cult. Over time the community restored parts of old and damaged vestments and used them to create new vestments for religious services today. Nuns and sisters have learned to restore priest vestments and ecclesiastical objects in the company of artists and restorers. Old embroideries, two stoles dating back to the nineteenth century (currently in the collection), icons, ecclesiastical objects and fresco fragments recovered from demolished churches were restored at Stavropoleos.
