New Servant at Stavropoleos Monastery
Monday, September 23, 2013, on the feast of the Conception of St. John the Baptist, the theologian Ioan Virgil Nanu was ordained deacon to serve Stavropoleos Monastery. The service was held, with the blessings of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, by His Holiness Varsanufie Prahoveanu, patriarchal bishop. Virgil Ioan Nanu graduated the Theological Seminary of Bucharest, the University of Music in Bucharest, Department of religious music (2006), a Masters in Theology, pastoral and liturgical life (2008) and the Faculty of Theology in Bucharest (2013). He has been singing in our church choir since he was student at the seminar. He is psalter and composer, member of the Stavropoleos Group (starting with 1998), with whom he participated in numerous concerts and recordings.
